Finding Mens Umbrellas

Unfortunately a downpour can happen at any time. Arriving at work, to a date, or an important meeting dripping wet isn't a good thing, so having a reliable umbrella on hand can be critical.

On this page, we'll highlight some handsome mens umbrellas that should provide the shelter you need from a light drizzle to a heavy storm and even a good bit of wind. We'll also give you a few tips for choosing the right one.

Buying Tips

You'll find a variety of umbrellas for men on this page. There are a few different features you might want to consider when making your choice:

  • Size and Portability
A full size umbrella will provide more protection. They have a larger coverage area and, as we all know, rain doesn't always fall in a purely vertical fashion. If you want the most protection to assure your legs stay dry as well, a larger arc is important. A mens umbrella offering 44" or more of coverage is a good choice if this is your primary concern. Umbrellas with 48" of coverage make it comfortable to share your umbrella.

Of course, if you want an umbrella that you can fit in a brief case, a glove compartment, and so forth, then a collapsible travel umbrella might be of interest. With auto open and close, these are a particularly attractive option if you'll be traveling.

  • Color
Most men aren't looking for specific patterns and designs but some of the richer colors are popular. Black, navy blue, deep green, burgandy and so forth are common choices but clear umbrella's certainly allow greater visibility.

  • Reliability
An umbrella with a sturdy build will be around longer and stand up to rough weather more readily. Titanium is stronger than aluminum but wood is sturdy as well. Plastic and fiberglass umbrellas are typically more affordable.

Collapsible travel umbrellas tend to have more problems in the wind and a two tiered or vented umbrella tends to do the best under these conditions.

  • Other features
A curved handle makes mens umbrellas easy to hang up, but a strap can serve the same purpose if it's included. Some umbrellas offer leather or a spongy rubber on the handle for easy grip.

Auto open and close features make operation easier and quicker.

I just had to read this, mulberry, when I saw the title. You did a great job it's just that my father is so strictly against umbrellas. He always says the few times he has used them he left them in their holder at a cafe or whatever...and so I have never learned to appreciate umbrellas for who they are!!!! LOL

Good article on men's umbrellas. I prefer them myself. Most women's umbrellas are to small.

Nice hub. I'd like to reiterate your tip on making sure you get a sturdy umbrella. Wind often accompanies rain, so be prepared and don't let your umbrella turn inside-out!

Have never really been a fan of umbrellas but I guess it is time to re-consider.

I keep leaving umbrellas on trains and buses and things. So I gave up using them until late last year when we had a lot of rain. Now I have one but seem to use it very seldom anyway!

Lots of good info here, thanks. When next I need to get one I'll come back to this Hub.

Love and peace

Another great hub mulberry! men ought to bring umbrellas too. I don't know why but there are some guys I know who thinks that umbrellas are just for girls. They'd rather get soaked in the rain than bring their own umbrella.
